Hunter - A874400

Hunter - A874400

Please contact my foster parent by email for information about adopting me.

Hunter came to the shelter injured, and we suspect he may have been hit by a car.

Unfortunately, Hunter also seems to have a torn cruciate ligament on his right hind leg, and may need specialized surgery (TPLO) and continued medical management.

Right now, he requires:

- Strict exercise restriction
- Daily pain medication
- No running, jumping, or stairs
- Ongoing veterinary care

Shelter life is not ideal for a dog recovering from this type of injury. The environment makes it difficult to properly restrict movement and provide the calm, consistent care he truly needs. Hunter has also been losing weight due to stress and reduced appetite in the shelter.

If you are interested in possibly adopting him or fostering him while he recovers, please reach out to animal.care@ventura.org.

It's PET OF THE WEEK O'CLOCK! Meet Hunter. He came to the shelter injured, possibly hit by a car. ?? Hunter also seems to have a torn cruciate ligament on his right hind leg, and may need specialized surgery (TPLO) and continued medical management: restricted exercise, daily pain medication, and ongoing veterinary care. Shelter life is not ideal for a dog recovering from this type of injury. Our environment isn't ideal to provide the calm, consistent care he truly needs. He's also been losing weight due to stress and reduced appetite in the shelter. ?? Hunter is coded green as "easy" dog to walk! Volunteers describe him as very loving with minimal pulling on leash. He hasn't had a chance to meet other dogs yet due to his injury. While he may be open to a doggie sibling with gradual intros, he should be kept separate from other dogs while healing to prevent rough play. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Hunter A874400 while he recovers, please reach out to animal.care@ventura.org!
