Rubio - A875624

Rubio - A875624

Rubio is a little bit of a shy guy, and has ongoing orthopedic issues that are being managed with pain medication. Ideally, he would be able to live his days in a softer home environment, where he wasnt living on hard concrete and sometimes wet, slippery floors. He is currently recovering from an FHO surgery.

Rubio is on our Call to Action list because his medical needs make him more challenging than the average dog in a shelter setting - not because he wouldn't make a good companion for the right person! He’s looking for an adopter or rescue willing to give him the attention he needs to thrive.

If you a big heart for dogs who need a little extra help, Rubio may be your guy. Come in to the shelter to meet him today!

Hip surgery hasn’t stopped Rubio the fox from having a good time! When this 3 year old arrived at the shelter in December he had a limp and multiple wounds. Thanks to the VCAS Foundation and your donations, we were able to send Rubio out for hip surgery! Now, with the help of his physical therapy exercises, he’s feeling strong and is ready to be adopted. ?? Our veterinary team will talk to potential adopters about best continuing Rubio’s healing with limited activity and strength building exercises. Now that he’s feeling better we’re seeing more of Rubio’s spry, goofy personality come out. Help him heal and blossom in a home by fostering or adopting!

Rubio the cattle/dog husky is looking for a soft place to land! He arrived at the shelter purple with injuries to his back end, neck, and a limp. Rubio may end up needing a hip surgery (a procedure known as FHO), in which case he’d need a foster for 6-8 weeks of crate rest. For now, we know for sure that Rubio will heal up better in a foster home than in the shelter! He’s been nervous around people so far, but accepts treats and tolerates pets. A laid back, patient household, perhaps one experienced with fearful dogs, would make for a great foster environment. We aren’t sure how Rubio feels about other animals, but he should be kept separate from other pets while he’s resting and healing. Interested in helping out this fluffy fox? Please apply at vcas.us/foster and email vcar.foster@ventura.org to let us know you’re specifically interested in Rubio A874650 ??
