Chili - A874194
The shelter environnment is hard for this boy, and he's showing it through overarousal and frustration while in the play yards. He has started exhibiting jumpy and mouthy behavior--including grabbing at clothing when he gets overly excited. Chili has been a very social boy and enjoys hanging out with people and going for walks. When he first arrived he was much more relaxed, the chaotic, unpredictable environment is proving to be too much for him and we think he would be best in a home that understands he needs a bit of time to decompress to show his true self.
If you're interested in adopting, please come in to visit him during open hours (daily 1pm-6pm) or email animal.care@ventura.org for more information!

UPDATE 12/24: From one of our veterinarians: This lovely boy has inflamed feet with secondary infetion, possibly allergies. Needs to be given oral medication and foot spray. He will need to come in for recheck in 1 week.
UPDATE 2/15: His foot condition has improved! But he has come down with an upper respiratory infection. In addition, he has multiple dermal masses (suspect benign) and ongoing hypoallergenic diet needs. He remains on our call to action list as he is still at our shelter after a short break in a foster home, but remains challenging to find placement for due to his medical and behavioral needs.
From his Foster: "Hi I'm Chili! As in Chili Dog or Chili Bean! I am an easy going gentleman who loves his people and will give your current dog its space. I enjoy taking treats verrrry gently, you’ll hardly know I am there!
I walk well beside you while sniffing and being leisurely. I can turn on some energy and do zoomies around your yard and then start showing you my big brown soul-searching eyes. I can make some pretty funny sounds, gurgles, grunts and sighing all while sitting still. Ready to leave the house? I will fall asleep on my bed and wake up when you get home. I love love love treats and know how to sit, shake and turn around, teach me something new! I enjoy car rides and sticking my head out the window."
